Charter – August 13 to August 24

Northern Soujorn,

With the late August weather forecast looking pretty sour the mighty Mango headed north straight out of port and into the eye of the storm with the hope of greener pastures protected from the relentless strong NW winds.

After some average seas for the long crossing we were rewarded with several options for surfing with plenty of protection to settle into the trip, just what we were hoping for. Without any major swell events on the horizon and some funky weather the Mango (and trusty sidekick Foxy Lady) scavenged around for scraps and chipshots for the first day or two and kept the good times rolling. In the very ordinary conditions the boys showed great enthusiasm and continued to rack up session after session of great fun waves although not epic and mostly surfing our sessions with only ourselves.

Conditions and swell improved slightly here and there before deteriorating again giving us a teasing taste of what this amazing surf region has to offer, just enough to keep frothing and just enough for a few tubes.

The team was continuously entertained by Dodsy and Doug’s guitar jamming and sing along performances and Chef Situ’s regular cheaky antics as we zigzaged through the islands.

And……with clearer skies and lighter winds for the last few days the guys finished on a high with some overhead spitting beach break tubes for the chargers and some classic point break action for the cruisers…… all at the same time! What an amazing, volatile and diverse surf region this is.
