THE GROUP
Ready for anything knowing they will be having the best times of their lives with pumping waves, fish and nonstop antics onboard. This trip brought a group of close mates together for rare “lad’s time” away from everyday life and bought everyone’s best out, creating an epic vibe for the entire time.
Conditions/Forecast
Prior to departure the forecast was looking like another one for the ages but as the days got closer the outlook dropped in size dramatically. What developed was a dream run of fun waves with plenty of lefts, rights, barrels and turns. A mid trip storm destroyed the ocean for 48 hours and created some dangerous seas but being in the right spot at the right time on these days, we scored!
Standout Sessions
A few standouts session worthy of a mention this trip with a rare left hander we surfed alone, some uncrowded fun down south and the epic sessions during the stormy days by ourselves - some saying the session of their lives, to one of the best back hand barrels Jax has ever had.
Wave of the trip
From Pepe’s left under priority to Jax’s late swing into a right-hand drainer to Tomato’s left down south that he patiently waited for were all waves for the highlight reel and made it hard to pick just one.
Personalities
Absolute larrikins who thoroughly enjoyed a good time in a and out of the water. Plenty of late-night saloon discos didn’t stop the team being first in the water at dawn each day. It’s always cool having mid north coast NSW guys onboard – birds of a feather, and it’s just like hanging with like-minded mates.
Food
Situ’s not-so-classic fish’n’chips was a big hit. With a fresh Spanish mackerel up over the gunwale, he wok seared chunks in grain mustard, garlic, paprika and chives, and served with a side of potato salad. Amazing!
Fish on
A rare 100% success rate this trip. Some early runs saw GT and a few trout in the esky. One sunset Foxy troll to the evening anchorage loaded us up with a two large Spanish mackerel, yellow spotted GT and a jobfish…. in 20 minutes. We would have kept fishing, but a storm was rolling in. You guys know the rule…never miss a Foxy Lady mission! Some very jealous lads who decided not to jump on for that mission.
“No better sound in the world then hearing that anchor drop in the morning”
