THE GROUP

An absolute all-star lineup of the new generation out of Hawaii and California consisting of Brodi Sale, Jet Chilling, Kade Matson, Kai Martin, Shion Crawford, Rylan Beavers and Hawaiian tube guru Torrey Meister to keep the groms in check.

Conditions/Forecast

A promising back-to-back swell forecast arrived with tricky weather. Strong and variable winds make it hard to find perfection sometimes but we made sure we were in the right regions for the conditions and surfed every day…..and we made sure we had a bloody good time doing it.

STANDOUT SESSIONS

The best session was early in the trip, on a heavy right we have been targeting a lot this season with all the top talent we have hosted this year. It was first day of the swell and a little unsettled, but it had some moments, and the lads got a good taste. Torrey calling it the best righthander he’s seen in Indonesia.

Hard to go past the barrels that day on the right but to change it up this blog we will go with “best maneuver of the trip”. Rylan Beavers went to the skies on Mentawai’s most rippable righthander with an amazing air reverse. Do yourself a favor and keep an eye out for Beaver. His surfing is truly something else.

When you get a group of best mates together who surf competitions for a living it is epic to see them temporarily leave that life behind them and fall into the Mentawai routine, revolving around wind, swell and tides only.

These kids are the cream of the upcoming crop, and you will be seeing a lot more of them in future. .
