Mango strikes again!!!

The lads who all met in Indo once-upon-a-time reunite onboard the Mighty mango. Is there any better place to pull together a bunch of old mates? A group of talented surfers and fisherman joined us this trip and capitalised on everything West Sumatra had to offer. Plenty of laughs, plenty of old tales from the Kuta heydays and plenty of surfing & fishing. No rest for the wicked.

Conditions/Forcast

A tricky forecast was the card we drew this trip. Plenty of wind and a mixed up ocean.

With some smart manoeuvring we managed to do just fine… fine alright cause it was pumping everywhere we went, and best of it all, no one was around.

Standout Sessions

One morning we woke to winds we weren’t expecting, so plans changed and we ended up at a super fun rip-able right hander. A great morning was had by all and sure enough, we still got the target break on later in the day. We arrived and it was rolling through like a freight train. A session to never to be forgotten. Turns onto barrels..think we covered it all this day.

Wave of the trip

This trip was hard to pick the wave of the trip as everyone was charging and scoring waves of their lives.

Hawksie told me he had his best day surfing in years….until we moved on to the next spot for the afternoon session. Hawksie straight out there and into a long tube to make his best of surfing ever…….even better.

Personalitys

The lads had plenty of energy swapping between surfing and fishing. A lot of hours spent in “Foxy Lady” maximising the every minute of daylight. A lot of laughs and good old stories.

A mid afternoon departure back to Padang, smooth seas, a glorious afternoon and a very satisfied group of surfers. A drinking game the lads have as tradition was then icing on the cake for a very epic trip.

Food

The lads were stoked on every meal that Situ and Putra created in the kitchen but the lamb roast was definitely the major hit.

Fish On

With experience spear-fisherman onboard it was nice to break up the trip with fishing and surfing. Plenty of variety was speared giving us plenty of bbq fish and sashimi most afternoons.
