Around this time every year the mixed group from all parts of Australia and California dust off the cob webs and join us on The Mighty Mango for a two week action packed trip of waves, fishing and of cause the “Shithead” yearly card tournament.

With two weeks up our sleeves your always pretty much guaranteed a swell or several. The last fortnight threw us two swells, some strong southerly winds at times and plenty of magic glassy sessions in between.

Standout Sessions

Being first on the spot, planting our anchor or playing a game of chest to make sure we are surfing alone is what we pride ourselves on.

The standout sessions would have to be mid trip when we ticked off two iconic lefts and found ourselves pinching ourselves over the perfection - dreamy conditions and just us surfing.

This went on for several days and we were just waiting for a day to be not so perfect so we could have a rest. It’s these days that make the trip that extra memorable.

FISH ON

Never miss a Foxy Lady mission! With bit of a relaxing afternoon in a beautiful remote location the call was to go out fishing to a reliable honey hole. Half the lads put on their fishing shirts and off we went. With the sound of the lines going off we knew the fish were on. A quick circle back and FISH ON!! Lines going, conversation quickly stopped and everyone’s beers went down. With the sun disappearing we managed to do another lap and fish on again. A couple of well sized Wahoo for the boat. We also love putting the lines out moving from spot to spot on the Mango and we were able to get a few more fish this trip.

Wave of the trip

Ohhhhhhh its a good one this trip. As always many outstanding waves go ridden throughout a whole trip. It was always a crowd pleaser to see Nick flying past but the wave that standouts and was mostly talked about was the double drop in. Im unsure if it was due to the first right we surfed in a while that had the boys hungry or if it was a complete accident. Judging through the lens Johnny may have been to deep, Grom claims he didn’t see Johnny on the inside and Dan I think that may have been for payback, but with only us in the line up the double drop in was great entertainment for us bystanders and best thing is we captured it all.

Food

Nothing better than “ocean to plate”. With a few healthy fish caught throughout the trip the ceviche, sashimi, beer battered fish and Situ’s Wahoo fish steaks Padang style had the taste buds well engaged.,
