The Perrow brothers and best mates escape the hustling Byron Bay to explore the entire Mentawai Island chain and absolutely make the most of every moment thrown at them.

THE GROUP
With a mix bag of goofys and naturals, pipeline master Kieren Perrow to Doctor J surfing his first reef break ever it wasn’t about packing the biggest barrels or grovelling, it was about having the best time of our lives and making sure everyone got their fix which is exactly what mates do for each other.

Conditions/Forcast
The mystery forecast seems to be a trait this year so lookoutthewindow.com was back in play and some smart chess decisions amongst other boats had us covering the entire Mentawai island chain on The Mighty Mango and reading each day as it came…..and scoring most days alone.
Personalities
Throw in three competitive brothers, a brother in law, some best mates and you know you're in for trouble. The banter flew throughout the whole trip with plenty of childhood stories to brotherly disagreements or fact checks that kept the peanut gallery on their toes and nobody was ever safe.
Standout Sessions
It was definitely a highlight to throw the Perrow brothers on a slab we have been recently targeting and watch them try out do each other in 6 foot + barrels. The most enjoyable day was the day we made the decision to stay down south for one more night / morning. The morning had half the crew on a fun rip-able left and the other half getting absolutely tubed on another left. Setting sail after the morning session and making our way north we scored some playful barrels on a beautiful sunset with absolutely no one around.
Everyone got their fix that day. Only fools rush.
FISH ON
Not a whole lot of fishing was done this trip due to surfing and hanging out but the day we decided to go explore what the south had to offer, we threw the lines out off the back of The Foxy Lady and just as we were about to pull the lines in we heard that beautiful noise of the reel screaming and JP pulled in his first fish ever on the troll. Ceviche lessgo!!

Food
The local cuisine seemed to be the main hit this trip with Moon Child stating Situ’s famous rendang being the best he has ever eaten. Moon child had just recently spent a month in Indonesia so theirs your answer.
